Upcoming holiday events in December

The ladies Christmas party will be held at Lillian Waye's home - on Thursday, Dec. 3, 7 pm.. Participants bring a plate of goodies to share, and a gift ($10-$15 value) to exchange in a "Chinese" gift exchange. (Numbers are drawn and "stealing" gifts is encouraged!).

The adult party will be held Friday, Dec. 11, 7 pm at Clairelyn's home. The same arrangement for refreshments (each bring to share) and gift exchange (with the "swapping game"). We always have a lot of laughs and good-natured humorous stealing and trading of gifts.

The family Christmas service is Dec. 13 (Sunday night) 6 pm and Joe and Glennie plan this event. Each is encouraged to bring a "talent" of song, reading, instrumental, etc. Goodies are brought for a sharing time afterwards.

Caroling is an annual event and, temporarily, it is planned for Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, 6 pm begin at the church. We drive to a number of homes of our elderly and/or home bound church members. Goodies are provided by the Hecht's at their home following. We usually have 4 or 5 vehicles that carpool for this very special evening that touches a lot of people with the true spirit of Christmas.

The Leadership Dinner is by invitation only and held at the Hecht's home. The Hecht's provide the food and entertainment as a thank you to all those who hold specific positions in the church. We will hold it on Wednesday, Dec. 16. 6 pm.

Special plans are underway for a very special morning worship on Sunday Dec. 20 (Christmas Sunday). This service will be a big, special surprise!

In the month of December, Bible Studies are postponed so that adults can prepare for this special Christian holiday.

The youth group has plans underway to involve the congregation in a special Christmas party for underprivileged children of Somerlid Elementary. Individuals, couples, or families will 'adopt" a child for the evening (Dec. 19) to take to supper (fast food is fine) then come to the church for a party. These adoptive friends purchase a gift for their child and provide transportation for the evening. We hope a lot of folks will get involved in this special evening.

We always have a mitten and hat tree for people to decorate. These warm items are taken to a shelter where they always are appreciated!
